“The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.” — Abraham Lincoln

When complaining about something that has happened, ask the question, “But are you doing the best you can?” Whether it’s grades, work, relationships or just getting life right, you are doing the best you can. Nobody gave you instructions to this thing called life. Remember, as long as you try your best, there is nothing more you can ask of yourself.

You are beyond loved.

Sometimes we are our own biggest critics. We constantly put pressure on ourselves to be the best we can be, only to put ourselves down in the process. This is the time to look to the people that build you up. You are loved by your family, friends, sorority sisters, teammates and everyone else on this planet. You matter and are loved. Never go a day in the rest of your life without knowing that.

This won’t matter in 10 years.

You won’t remember the French exam you failed or the mistake you made at work 10 years from now. It isn’t going to matter. You won’t remember the fight you got into with your boyfriend or girlfriend. Don’t worry, not everything will matter years from now.

You are blessed.

During tough times we forget to look at all the things that we have. If you have a roof over your head, great health, an amazing support system or whatever it may be, you are blessed and fortunate. Don’t forget to count your blessings.

You will come out stronger.

You will make it out of this rut stronger than you were when you fell into it. You will appreciate when times are tough and when times are really good. Time does wonders, and it will be time that will make that rain cloud scatter away. Just remember, it can’t stay there forever.
